Our leadership team at Baralaba Coal Company has decades of combined experience in the resources sector. As well as leading the small team directly reporting to them at BCC, our executive team work hand-in-hand with the leadership and management of all our partner companies as well as the team at all our sites. They understand the value and importance of being available and approachable by everyone who works at all of our sites.
Mick is a certified practicing Project Manager and holds a Master of Engineering Science.
He also has a Bachelor of Engineering, a Bachelor of Commerce and holds an Advanced Diploma of Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Mick has more than twenty years experience in the mining industry having worked at a number of sites across Queensland, including Jellinbah East, Lake Vermont, Oaky Creek, Collinsville, Curragh and Tarong.
Before taking on the role of CEO, Mick was the General Manager Operations for Baralaba Coal and oversaw all key aspects relating to production and haulage of product coal at Baralaba.
Mick has a proven track record of delivering operational excellence through establishing strong collaborative working relationships with all key stakeholders.
Darren completed his articles at EY in Johannesburg in Banking and Insurance and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2008.
Since then, Darren has worked for Absa Capital, a member of Barclays Capital, as Financial Director of one of its property funds.
He went on to serve as CEO of Beacon Rock Corporate Services, a company providing corporate finance consulting to the mining industry.
Darren was also a director and member of the senior management team that led and managed the assets of a high-net-worth family office in South Africa, with investments in numerous countries and industries.
Darren previously worked for AMCI Investments in Sydney in a corporate finance capacity before joining Baralaba Coal as CFO.
Jacob holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineering (Hons) from the University of Queensland and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
He has more than two decades of experience in the mining industry at numerous open cut and underground mining operations across Australia.
This included roles with Sons of Gwalia, Rio Tinto, Dyno Nobel, BHP Billiton and Queensland Energy Resources.
For the past six years, Jacob was the General Manager Mining at Stanwell’s Meandu Mine and then General Manager Resources & Energy for Xenith Consulting.
Jacob brings strong leadership credentials to Baralaba Coal with a focus on delivering outstanding business performance through the development of a high-performance team culture.
